Subsequently released from prison as part of a general amnesty given by the Fianna Fáil government in 1946, Behan moved between homes in Dublin, Kerry and Connemara and also resided in Paris for a time. During this time, he took it upon himself to study, and he became a fluent speaker of the Irish language. At age 16, Behan joined the IRA, which led to his serving time in a borstal youth prison in the United Kingdom and imprisonment in Ireland. There was also a strong emphasis on Irish history and culture in his home, which meant he was steeped in literature and patriotic ballads from an early age. The white wine and garlic sauce was delicious and the portion was big. It was the server’s recommendation and she was right! This was my favorite thing we ordered and I’d definitely order it again. The steak was properly cooked and I enjoyed the presentation. I usually don’t order steak if a restaurant isn’t a steakhouse but this was pretty good. This is tasty but I wish the truffle flavor was stronger. Overall rating: 4/5 because its very cute for photos and I always enjoy meeting friends here for after work drinks. Oscar Wilde gets busy and lively on weekdays as soon as work ends, so reservations are recommended. You’ll see white rabbits, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, playing cards, moving flowers and more. The restaurant is dripping from top to bottom with decor inspired by the famous book and movies. It’s best visited when they have special seasonal or holiday decor up, because they go very over the top.įor summer 2023, they have an absolutely magical Alice in Wonderland theme.
